About the Teachers

Mrs. Girard

Hi! My name is Teri Girard and I am so excited to be teaching second grade at CVC. I grew up in Hanford and attended Hanford Christian School, then Immanuel High School. I earned my teaching credential at Fresno Pacific, then worked on my master's degree while teaching in Hanford Elementary School District. I have taught kindergarten through third grade children and thoroughly enjoy my job. Being able to share Christ's love with your children is such a gift - and one I do not take for granted.

I have an amazing husband, Phil, who works for California Dairies. God has blessed us with three precious children. Beth is a sophomore at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, Allie is a senior and Nathan is a sophomore. I love being a wife and mom and am so grateful for these blessings in my life. My only complaint is that our kids are growing up too quickly!

I am excited to see what God has planned for our class this year! I know it will be a year of growth for all of us and I am thankful for the opportunity to spend time with your children each day. Thank you for all you do to support your child's learning and for all you invest into making CVC such a great place to be!

Mrs. Hooyer

Hello! My name is Irene Hooyer. I am looking forward to a great year with your children in my class and having you as partners this year.

I seem to have a hard time getting out of Second Grade. This is my 28th year teaching second. I did teach third for one year. All my teaching years have been at CVC!

I grew up in Escondido, CA, then went to Dordt College for my education degree. I received my master's degree from Fresno Pacific. While at Dordt, I met my husband Joel. He works for the City of Visalia in the Parks and Urban Forestry Department. We have four wonderful children, who have been able to enjoy learning here at CVC. Jillian is a sixth year teacher at Mount Vernon Christian in WA. Aaron and his wife Sarah live in Minneapolis where Aaron works as a project coordinator. Jesse is a construction engineer in Madera, and Adam is in his last year at Dordt University.

Second Grade is a great building year and I am excited to get to know your children better and see the growth that happens in each of these 7 and 8 year olds! I covet your prayers as we learn to put Jesus first, others second, and ourselves last.

Miss VanBeek

Hi Everyone! My name is Courtney VanBeek and I am so excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year at CVC. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and working together to help these students live out Christ through everything they do and say.

A little bit about me! I grew up in Lynden, WA where I attended a small K-8 Christian school, Ebenezer, and then went on to Lynden Christian for high school. I have two younger brothers, Cole (19) and Levi (16). Growing up with two younger brothers, made me love the time spent outdoors which is why some of my favorite past times are hiking and camping (you can see that PNW theme shine through in my classroom :) ) After high school I went to Dordt College where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Reading and Early Childhood. I graduated this past May and am ready for my journey to continue in Visalia, CA. I definitely feel called to CVC and know that this is where God wants me to be.

I'm looking forward to working with your students and growing with them in this year ahead. Thank you for all your encouragement, support, and prayers. There is something very unique and special about this Christian school community and it's something that I don't take for granted. I know that this year is going to be a great year and I am ready to start!
